I am a Scottish artist living and working in Perthshire. I paint mostly with acrylics but also dabble in pastel, pen work, watercolour and oils. My work has been described as quirky, unusual and different which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your perspective. I like to take well known places and add my own slant to them, while still keeping them recognizable.
I am a self-taught painter…a dangerous confession in the world of art! I found my love of interesting and imaginative artwork was present from an early age, namely from album covers and storybooks, especially the creations of artists such as Rodney Matthews and Roger Dean.
Although I have a special liking for working in the slightly twisted style, I also happily take on traditional commissions. I have recently started to paint some wildlife in pastel, acrylic and watercolour. Past commissions have included houses, pets and portraits, caricatures, murals, illustrative work and signage. There have been other even more obscure requests, so pretty much anything goes.
NOTE: Creative Light is a spotlight on Scottish artists from all mediums. We strive to share introductions written by the artists whenever possible and we link directly to their websites. Anyone can submit a suggestion, but the artists themselves are especially welcome. Please send a link where we can find examples of work and a biography to Staff@Modern.Scot
