Jack’s Joint is a collection of more than 950 sea stories and tales of being a U.S. Coast Guard “Coastie” which was organized and painstakingly indexed by Jack Aarol Eckert who passed away on March 24, 2005. More than 10 years later, his site continues to attract visitors from all over the world. He left researchers, historians and story-lovers with a website so unique it that it was used as a reference for the movie The Perfect Storm.

Jack enlisted in the United States Coast Guard as a seaman at the age of 17, and 27 years later, retired as Lieutenant Commander, 2nd in Command of all USCG operations for the Western Area District, covering Port Barrow, AK to San Diego, CA. He met a lot of people and made of lot of friends and his website remains a living testimony to his friendly nature.
