EDITORIAL POLICY – Modern Scot

Modern Scot operates as an independent publication committed to accuracy, clarity and restraint.

Its reporting is based on publicly available information, official statements, and verifiable data. Assertions are attributed wherever possible, and where evidence is incomplete this is stated directly.

The publication does not reproduce promotional language as fact. Statements from organisations, agencies or companies are treated as interested positions rather than neutral accounts, and are presented accordingly.

Coverage is structured around the mechanics of public life in Scotland, including local government, infrastructure, energy, environment and the economy. These areas are approached as systems rather than isolated events, with attention given to continuity and long term implications.

The tone of reporting is deliberate. Articles avoid exaggeration, speculation and unnecessary commentary. Where uncertainty exists, it is retained rather than resolved artificially.

Modern Scot does not adopt partisan political positions. Its role is to observe, examine and describe, allowing readers to draw their own conclusions from clearly presented information.

Corrections are made where necessary. Updates are noted when new information materially changes the understanding of a subject.
