Modern Scot Classifieds Terms and Posting Rules
Modern Scot Classifieds is a moderated Scotland-wide noticeboard for short public listings. By submitting a classified advert, you agree to these terms and posting rules.
1. Scotland scope
Classified adverts must be Scotland based or clearly Scotland relevant. Modern Scot may reject adverts that fall outside this scope.
2. Review before publication
All adverts are reviewed before publication. Submission does not guarantee publication. Approved adverts normally appear within 24 hours, though review may take longer at weekends, holidays or busy periods.
3. No editing or deletion by submitter
Once submitted, an advert cannot be edited, revised, extended or deleted by the submitter. It will expire automatically after the selected period of 3, 7 or 14 days, beginning when the advert is approved and made live.
4. Prohibited listings
Modern Scot does not accept adverts involving illegal goods or services, stolen goods, weapons, ammunition, knives or weapon accessories, drugs, controlled substances, cannabis, CBD, tobacco, vaping, nicotine products, prescription medicines, adult services, sexual content, gambling, betting, counterfeit goods, fake documents, hazardous materials, hate material, extremist material, political campaign advertising, misleading claims, unsafe products, scams or any item requiring a licence unless Modern Scot has expressly allowed that category.
5. User responsibility
The submitter is responsible for the accuracy, legality and safety of the advert. Modern Scot does not verify every claim and is not a party to any transaction, sale, exchange, rental, service arrangement or meeting between users.
6. Safety and records
Modern Scot collects the submitter’s name, email address, phone number, IP address, submission time, advert content and any uploaded image for moderation, abuse prevention, record keeping and lawful requests from authorities. These details are not all displayed publicly.
7. Removal rights
Modern Scot may decline, remove or retain records of any advert that appears unsuitable, suspicious, misleading, unlawful, unsafe, outside Scotland’s scope or inconsistent with these terms.
8. Risk warning
Users should carry out their own checks before buying, selling, transferring money, visiting property, meeting anyone or relying on any classified advert. If something appears suspicious, do not proceed.
